A luxury brand start up contacted me to start to high end branding to compete with the worlds finest handbag designers. 

OVERVIEW

A brand new luxury brand created for woman of color by woman of color to express yourself. Amami is a family of luxury personalized accessories focused solely on self-expression. The products are hand-crafted in L.A., so you can be sure they’re one-of-a-kind. With the direction of the owner and creator of the brand I created the logo and basic branding guidelines, including social and web presence.

This is how I collaborated with the founder and create a brand that will be iconic and bold.

THE RESEARCH

With the intensive research and conversations with the owner and creator, it started to show that there was a lot of big and small brands already out there. What was clear is that Amami needed to be represented with a brand that can be next to them all and not just be another social media influencer driven company. 

It was ready to be part of the large fashion industry and ready to compete for eyes that also look at high end fashion companies.

THE WORK

While exploring, the idea of using text or a symbol to represent the brand kept being explored throughout the process. The final decision was made that the word mark was enough and no symbol was needed. As the brand progressed the realization the letter forms that were incorporated into the the designs can also be used as symbols throughout any campaigns or social precense. 

THE DESIGN SYSTEM

This allowed for flexibility to be able to create and make any elements that can standout as part of the brand. This was important to create a consistent user experience anywhere.

THE LAUNCH

I was proud to launch this brand and to see the flexibility that can be done with it. The. brand is set up to make an impact anywhere it shows up.
